Respect is at the heart of rugby. Rugby is a social sport that praises competition but demands good sportsmanship. Rugby players are taught to respect not only their coaches and teammates but also the referees and the opposing players. As part of the rugby tradition, the home team hosts the visiting team in an after game social, where players from opposing teams eat and play together, encouraging camaraderie between the teams After a match the home team organizes a social get-together, one in which both teams hang out and socialize. Rugby's culture features a noble and honorable combination of camaraderie, loyalty and respect that’s not found in other sports. Fans know it to be unique to the sport of rugby; players recognize it as something that, compared to other athletes, makes them a cut above the rest.
